Social Justice

Deeply embedded in the core values of Congregation Beth Adam is respect for the inherent worth of all people. We are committed to acting upon this core principle through ongoing social action & social justice projects.

Currently our Social Action/Social Justice Committee is focused on two long-term initiatives addressing Separation of Church & State and Climate Change.

Religious freedom exists and is maintained for all Americans, particularly religious minorities, by respecting the constitutional principle of Separation of Church & State. Through education and advocacy Beth Adam will push back against the weakening of this separation. As James Madison stated: “Religion flourishes in greater purity without the aid of government.”

In a world where help does not come from elsewhere, we all have a duty to care for the planet and help those in need. Beth Adam is committed to taking action to mitigate the climate crisis and the vast human suffering it threatens to cause. Our work addresses climate change through education, personal responsibility, and advocacy with our political leaders.
